Pashupatinath: The Pashupatinath Temple is one of the most sacred temples for Hindus across the world. A tour of Pashupati Area – dotted with shrines, structures, and ghats is very immersive and provides educative insight about Hinduism and its association with Nepal.
Bouddhanath: After Pashupatinath, we visit the white domed Boudhanath – one of the world’s largest unique structure’s stupa. Set in the heart of the city, one is amazed how the premise drowns all exterior sounds and engulfs a visitor in its serene environment. The stupa accordingly underlines Buddhism’s association in Nepal.
Bhaktapur: We head towards Bhaktapur – although the journey is a mere 12 kms, entering the Durbar Square will make us feel like we travelled through time – to an earlier period. Connected by stone-cobbled streets, exploring Bhaktapur Durbar Square and its unique architecture offers an interesting insight into the rich history of Newa:s, their lifestyle, religion, food, and culture.
In Bhaktapur, we will try our handicraft skills by trying to make some pottery in the ancient style, and later head for some yummy local treat – Juju Dhau (famous Bhaktapur yogurt).
Overnight: Hotel, Kathmandu
We will head out of Kathmandu early morning – soon be in the countryside taking in the views the meandering highway has to offer. Along the drive, we will pass small highway settlements, as we make our way towards Bandipur.
Bandipur: Bandipur is a quaint little picturesque town perched atop a hill. Undisturbed by cars and vehicles, children can freely explore the main street and the surrounding areas. The main street, paved in traditional stones, till date houses traditional Nepali homes on both sides. The street is fascinating to walk upon. Bandipur also offers magnificent views of the Himalayas.
Overnight: The Old Inn.
We make our way towards Pokahra – a short drive from Bandipur. Once checked in, we head out for the day to explore the several attractions Pokhara has to offer: Davi’s Falls, a unique underground waterfall, Gupteshwor Mahadev Temple, an deep underground cave, at the end of which we can again see the water of Davi’s Falls disappear underground.
We will then come back to Lakeside, and enjoy a relaxing boat ride in Phewa Taal (lake). The city on one side and the hills on the other, the Phewa Lake is serene, and provides for a peaceful session. The lake also has an island with a temple, which we will visit.
Overnight: Hotel, Pokhara.
A short drive away, Dhampus is a beautiful Himalayan village which provides unparalleled natural views of the Himalayas – Hiunchuli, Annapurna South, Machapuchhre and Annapurna II and IV. The city and its noises are far away, and all you can hear is the sounds of nature, as you and your family stare into one of the most beautiful views experienced. The area is wide and open, and the family can indulge in some outdoor activities – tour the village, play some ball, or simply relax and sit down.
Note: Dhampus offers spectacular sunrise/sunset views.
Overnight: Hotel, Dhampus.
There is a reason why trekking is so popular in Nepal – they say, a person who has trekked once, will trek again, and again. A hike or a trek is an amazing experience – the pace is slow, the views are nice, there is no disturbance, and unlike a moving vehicle, we can take our time to appreciate the beauty that surrounds us.
Today, we will walk to Australian Camp – a short (approx 2.5 hours) and easy hike abundant with mesmerizing views – we will walk through jungles with a variety of flowers and trees.
Australian Camp: Australian Camp, a settlement en route to Mardi Himal trekkers, offers sweeping views of the Himalayas – catch another mesmerizing sunset from here.
We will be leaving the mountain villages behind – a gentle two hour walk will lead us to Khade, where a vehicle will be waiting for us to take us back to Pokhara.
Free to explore Lakeside, its café, bookstores, handicraft store for the remainder of the day.Overnight: Hotel, Pokhara
Chitwan National Park: Home to the several wildlife species including one-horned rhinoceroses, tigers, elephants and crocodiles, Chitwan National Park, is Nepal’s first national park.
We arrive at our resort, situated just outside the national park alongside the river and immediately enjoy the tranquility of the place. Here, several activities are planned:
Jungle Safari: A jungle safari, either on a jeep or an elephant’s back will take us inside the heart of the jungle to watch animals in their natural habitat. If lucky, you can even sight the alluring Royal Bengal tiger.
Canoeing: Canoe down the gentle Rapti River, stop by the Gharial conservation centre.
Jungle Walk: We can also enjoy a guided jungle walk through the jungle’s periphery.
Elephant Bathing: One of the most satisfying experiences in Chitwan, enjoy a fun-filled afternoon bathing an elephant – in turn, the elephant might sprinkle water on you too.
