Manaslu Circuit Trekking

This 16-days Manaslu Circuit Trek takes you around Manaslu, the eighth highest peak in the world. Gaining more popularity these days among trekkers, it is as an amazing trek, also an alternative for Everest Base Camp (EBC) and Annapurna Base Camp (ABC).

The Manaslu circuit trek revolves around Buddhist settlements with the splendid scenery of high passes, wildlife, various Himalayan flora and fauna and not to miss out the snowy peaks. With small tea houses along the trail, it has been much easier for the trekkers to stop for snacks or even get accommodation. The trek will take you to the highest land that is very close to Tibet which means that our trekkers will also get to experience Tibetan-influenced culture and tradition.

The trekking region is a restricted trekking route which is why you need to use a government licensed trekking agency with private staffs for a safe and comfortable trek. Solo trekking is not advisable for the trek, as you face the challenge of crossing Larke La Pass, which stands at the height of 5,106 meters and is considered one of the most difficult trekking points.

The Manaslu Circuit Trek, the moderate-to-difficult grade trekking route, as a whole, allows you to explore the nature, culture and lifestyle of people living in the trail zone, and undoubtedly gives you the lifetime experience of an adventure.

You will drive towards the north in the morning following the Budi Gandaki river. It’s an approximately 8-9 hour journey accompanied by the scenery of traditional Nepali homes and the beauty of nature. The ride is comfortable until Dhading Besi which is around 2 hours away from Kathmandu but it might be bumpy as the journey proceeds towards Arughat that leads to Soti Khola. You will do a night halt in Soti Khola, where you will spend a night. Upon reaching there, you can freshen up and get good rest for tomorrow.

After breakfast, you will begin your trek towards Machha Khola. Passing through beautiful towering waterfalls, green hills, perennial river and ethnic villages. On today’s hike, you will pass through places like Armala, Liding, Apubesi and Khani Besi before reaching Machha Khola.

Today’s hike is going to be full of ascending and descending the hill. Upon reaching Korlabesi, you will ascend to the ridge and then descent towards the natural hot spring (Tatopani). Soon, you will cross the Budi Gandaki river then continue the journey towards Dovan. After we reach Dovan, our next destination will be towards Duman where there is a steep ascent to the ridge and then a descent to a natural hot spring (Tatopani). Soaking your body in the hot water spring should be one of the main highlights of the hike. Relax and heal your tiredness away.

Soon you’ll cross Budi Gandaki river. After climbing stairs to Dovan, you’ll ascend towards Duman. The trail further is full of ups and downs. Moving further, you will reach Thado Bhanjyang and then finally walk towards Jagat which is the last stop for the today.

Today, you have a 7-hour journey before you. Walking next to the cliffs, you’ll be perplexed by the beautiful view of Shringi Himal and Buddhist Mani walls as you descent towards Setibas. The hike continues through terraced fields, bamboo forest and green hills and various settlements such as Salleri, Sirdibas, Phillim, Eklebhatti, Nyak of the Nupri valley which successively will lead you towards your final stop, Deng.

The journey will be towards the west today. After Deng, you will cross Budi Gandaki river and continue the hike towards Rana Village. The beautiful waterfall coupled with rhododendron and unique flora and fauna will be all ready to welcome you. Besides you will also get to witness the beautiful view of Ganesh Himal and Himal Chuli. You will gradually ascend towards Namrung for an overnight stay.

Leaving Namrung, you will proceed towards Lihi that also provides a beautiful view of Ganesh Himal but from a different angle. The village is filled with chhortens, mani walls, and barley fields. You will continue walking towards Samagaon following Sho, Lho and Shyala villages.

Another interesting thing about today’s hike is you will be bestowed with the view of other Himalayan peaks such as Manaslu, Himalchuli and Peak 29 asa you make your way to Samagaun.

Explore the surrounding area and visit Rimbung Gomba (Lho Monastery), one of the main attractions of Samagaun.

Today’s hike is relatively shorter. The trek to Samdo will take you around ¾ hours approximately. You’ll follow the Budi Gandaki river as you hike uphill. If you’re lucky, you will also have an opportunity to see the Himalayan Blue Sheep which is one of many exotic animals found in the region. The trail is comparatively easy and wide and takes you through the riverside and you will eventually reach Samdo where you will halt for the night.

Today is an acclimatization day in Samdo which is a meeting place of three different surrounding valleys, situated behind a ridge known for yak herding.

You can hike up to Gya La which is a trading pass with Tibet and explore surrounding areas. The place offers excellent views of various peaks such as Simrang Himal, Hiunchuli Peak, Ngadi Himal, Larkye Peak, Cheo, and Kang Guru Himal.

Today’s trek, you’ll descend to the river before ascending uphill. Dharmasala also known as Larkya Phedi, is the final destination of Manaslu Circuit Trek before Larke Pass. Today, you’ll pass through the glacier, walk through several mani walls and enjoy the peaceful environment, the mountains, and the surrounding area.

Larke Phedi has only one lodge for the basic accommodation which is why early reservation is vital.

The amazing trek continues but today is the most challenging day as you will cross Larka La at an elevation of 3720 meters above the sea level. The journey might seem challenging but what you’ll get to experience by the end of the day is worth it. The trek up to Bimthang starts with the gentle climbing to the ridge followed by a very short descent to a small lake and finally ascend to the Pass. The hike in the latter half will be steeper, be mindful about that.

Soon after reaching the summit of the pass you will stop for some photographs before descending to Bhimthang. The view is majestic. Brace yourself to get the gorgeous views of several Himalayas including Manaslu Peak, Himlung Himal, Annapurna II, Cheo Himal, and Kanguru Himal.

Today you will trek towards Dudh Koshi river. You will pass along the amazing scenery of vegetation and glacier on the way. Rhododendron forest will be ready to welcome you as you make your way towards Karache (2,800 m), known as one of the highest cultivated villages of Nepal. Walk further, you will reach Gho village where you have the options for a night stay. An hour walk further will take you to Tilije village where you’ll have a better option for a night halt.

Today, you’ll cross the Dudh Koshi River and pass through mani walls and Chorten shaped arc to reach Thonje village. As you head further, you’ll reach Marshyang valley and later Chamje, a popular stop for trekkers for Annapurna Circuit Trek. It has options for lodges for meals and accommodation. Refresh yourself and delve into the beauty of the Annapurna region for one last night.

Get ready to hit the busy streets of Kathmandu after soaking and rejuvenating yourself with the freshness of nature. You’ll drive through the rugged road to Besisahar that might be physically tiring but then eventually will be followed by a fine blacktopped road to Kathmandu. Enjoy the countryside road and reminisce the life-long memory made in the Manaslu Trek. Upon reaching Kathmandu, you’ll be transferred to your hotel.

After breakfast, you will be transferred to the airport.
